Frequently Asked

Questions

Why would my baby need infant massage therapy?

Baby can have difficulty feeding or general tension and discomfort for a multitude of reasons. Most common are birth trauma (forceps/vacuum assist, really fast delivery, baby got stuck at some point in labour), tongue tie/lip tie, etc.

To you it will look like general fussiness, only being soothed in one position, only being able to feed in one position, hating the carseat regardless of distractions or movement, gas or constipation, head flattening, side preference when feeding and ‘colic’.

What are the benefits of infant massage therapy?

I love doing infant massage as a gentle but effective way to help balance out baby’s quickly growing and developing body. I am able to relax tension that may be limiting baby’s ability to move around or feed effectively.

Infant massage can decrease latch pain, prep baby for a tongue/lip tie release, significantly reduce colic and reflux symptoms, help baby meet milestones and generally create a more calm, happy baby.

If I already had my baby, can I still book the Fourth Trimester Packages?

Of course! You get all the same content in the package, messaging support will go for 3 months still, even if we start later than right from birth. I find the online course is still super helpful as an instant source of information on the basics like how to latch baby, how to build a milk supply and what pump to use, so feeding can improve STAT. We can get into the specifics to your situation when we have our first in home lactation appointment but small improvements can come fast.

How does extended benefits cover some of your services?

Because my support includes infant massage appointments, the time spent working on the baby specifically, not the breastfeeding parent, can be covered under your baby’s massage plan. After I do any infant massage visits (including the baby assessment in the initial consult) I will send an email with the invoice under the baby’s name and then when you get baby on your benefit plan you can submit it.

Can I start with the one appointment and upgrade to a package?

All of my packages are booked at a first come first serve basis, so there is always a risk that my schedule would not allow to increase your support to a full package. It is an option, but I always recommend booking a package to secure my long term support.

Do you massage adults in home?

Currently, no I do not offer in home massage for adults, just infants. I treat pregnant and postpartum clients in clinic at Guelph Prenatal Massage, you can find the link HERE to book appointments there.

I live outside of your listed service area, will you come to my home still?

Depending on where you live in relation to my service areas there is still a chance that I can offer my in home lactation services to you. If you would define your area as surrounding Kitchener, Branford, Cambridge or Guelph (like Fergus, or Paris) then it is very possible as long as I have space in my schedule.

Either way I encourage you to reach out to me HERE and if I can’t help you I can find someone who can.
